From the annoucement for CMS-09:
Organized by the Department of Materials Engineering at IISc and the UGC Networking Resource Centre for Materials (NRC-M), CMS-09 will feature lectures by experts on computational techniques that are widely used for studying materials phenomena and processes at different length and time scales. Specifically, CMS-09 will cover phase stability and thermodynamics, crystal defects, deformation and fracture, solidification and phase transformations, welding, process metallurgy.
The lectures will have both pedagogical and research orientations. Each lecture will focus on a set of related modelling techniques, with adequate discussion of illustrative examples. Thus CMS-09 is suitable for research scholars with a strong interest in computational modelling techniques, as well as for researchers and faculty members who are keen on broadening / deepening their research interests in computational materials science.
In addition, CMS-09 will also offer the participants an opportunity for networking and for exploring longer-term collaborations.
